Bayou Vista Garden duo studies environment

Bayou Vista Garden Club members President Donna Bucci and Vice President Jo Ann Ryan recently attended National Garden Clubs Environmental Studies School in Jean Lafitte. The school was sponsored by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation.
The Living Earth Environmental Studies Schools are composed of a minimum of 40 hours of study of specific units divided into four courses of 10 hours, each of which included a two-hour field trip. Courses investigate air, land and water. The units are divided in ecology and environmental science, life on earth and earth stewardship.
Bucci and Ryan have completed the required courses and have taken four refresher courses to reach the status of Master Environmental Consultants.
A field trip was taken aboard the Lil Cajun, captained by Louis Hatty, to explore the wetlands of Jean Lafitte.
