Blue Star Memorial Marker restored, again

Bayou Vista Garden Club, after three months, had its Blue Star Memorial Marker restored to its location on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista. Blue Star Markers honor area veterans. Area businesses helped with the restoration after the sign was razed in May right after the club had the sign refurbished. Club members expressed thanks to Charles Green of Paragon Metalworks, Clarence McGuire of J n C Concrete, and Mark Richard of the Bayou Vista Community Center for restoration of the sign and foundation. Club members replanted Firepower nandinas around the sign during its recent boulevard workday. Civic Development committee members also installed Aztec grass, petunias, dianthus and snapdragons at the Bayou Vista sign. Trees were pruned and mulched with the assistance of trustees from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s office. Club members at the restored marker are, from left, Civic Development Chairman Jo Ann Ryan, President Donna Bucci, Crystal Marcel and Jean Chauvin. Also assisting was Janice Verret.
