Bucci honored as Bayou Vista Garden Club observes Arbor Day

In observance of Arbor Day, Bayou Vista Garden Club members planted a Japanese magnolia on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista. The tree was dedicated to Donna Bucci for her service as club president for 2015-17. Also known as the saucer magnolia, this deciduous tree opens fat, furry flower buds before the foliage emerges. The flowers come in a variety of colors, such as white, lavender-pink, rose-purple, dark reddish purple and light yellow. From left are Bucci; Mark Richard, Bayou Vista Community Center maintenance supervisor; Donna Richard, club Arbor Day chairman; and club member Jean Chauvin. Also on hand was club member Janice Verret.
