Chi Chapter holds April meeting

Chi Chapter held its April meeting at the Holiday Inn in Morgan City. Chi Chapter conducted its business meeting with Alecia Rabalais presiding.
The president’s report included highlights from the Epsilon State convention held in March. Sue Clements received a certificate from Epsilon State in recognition of her 25 years of membership.
Membership chairman Nicol Armato presented her committee’s recommendations for new members to join Chi Chapter.
Installation of officers concluded the business session. Elected for 2014-16 were Jeannie Landry, president; Debra Torline, first vice president; Loraine Sinitiere, second vice president; Marie Cole, recording secretary; and Tanya Rosamond, corresponding secretary.
The educational program was presented by Karen Marin. She spoke on the Irlen Method and involved members in some creative ways to illustrate her points. Irlen syndrome prevents people from reading effectively. Irlen has a patented treatment method using special overlays and filters to reduce perception difficulties, Marin said.
Delta Kappa Gamma is an international honor society that promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. The Chi Chapter serves St. Mary Parish.
