Free Children’s Day pizza party is Aug. 17

On Aug. 17, Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Children’s Day King and Queen Aedynn Chellette and Lillian Trimmer will crown the new children’s royalty following a 5:30 p.m. random drawing held at the Bayou Vista Spray Park.
Children of all ages are invited to the free pizza party and to play at the Spray Park, according to Allison Guagliardo, Children’s Day coordinator. The pizza party will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Spray Park on Belleview Street. Children are reminded to wear swim attire to play in the park.
Those children in attendance that are ages 7 to 12 are additionally invited to register for the drawing to select the new Children’s Day king and queen. Entry forms will be available at the spray park and there is no fee to register.
The boy and girl selected as king and queen will reign over Children’s Day festivities held Aug. 30 at Lawrence Park in Morgan City, including the 11 a.m. children’s mini-parade.
The new Children’s Day royalty will be presented during the adult coronation on Aug. 23 at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.
Chellette is the 9-year-old son of Kelly Riley and Daniel Chellette of Morgan City.
Trimmer is the 12-year-old-daughter of Cheryl and William Trimmer of Morgan City.
