Lions Camp open to special children

Morgan City Lions Club is accepting applications to send children to Louisiana Lions Camp in Leesville this summer.
The camp will mark its 58th year. To date, more than 23,190 children have attended.
Louisiana Lions Camp operates sessions for youth with diabetes, pulmonary disorders, and mental and physical challenges so they can enjoy a summer camp experience.
The camp will be open for youth with pulmonary disorders, ages 5-15, from May 31 to June 6.
Two one-week sessions will be held for mentally challenged children, ages 8-19, from June 14-27.
There will also be two one-week sessions for orthopedically challenged and hearing/visually impaired children, ages 7-19, from June 28 to July 11.
The final two one-week sessions will be for diabetic youth. Those sessions are July 12-18 for ages 6-11 and July 19-25 for ages 11-14.
Children will have the opportunity to swim, do arts and crafts, archery, sports, and learn gun safety and nature lore.
To get an application, contact Dianne Baillargeon after 5 p.m. at 985-399-6068.
The Louisiana Lions League for Crippled Children operates and manages the camp, which is funded by voluntary contributions, according to the Louisiana Lions Camp news release.
