Morgan City native joins NY law firm

Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP has announced that Shane Stroud will join the firm as a partner in the Firm’s New York office. Stroud’s practice focuses on employee benefits and executive compensation issues, including those related to mergers and acquisitions. He joins the firm from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.
Stroud is a Morgan City native who graduated from Morgan City High in 1988.
In addition to his transactional work, Stroud also advises clients on a wide range of nontransactional EBEC issues, from equity-based and incentive compensation plans, to deferred compensation plans and severance agreements. He also counsels clients with respect to bankruptcy, securities, corporate governance, and other issues affecting employee benefits and executive compensation matters.

He has advised on an impressive array of major M&A transactions, and has a reputation for giving practical business advice,” said Spencer L. Harrison, chair of Hughes Hubbard’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice.
Stroud regularly advises clients on the implementation and design of qualified and nonqualified employee benefit plans, including health and welfare plans, 401(k) plans, employee stock ownership plans, and supplemental executive retirement plans.
He also advises clients on a wide variety of ERISA issues, including plan reporting and disclosure, participation, vesting, funding, benefit accrual, fiduciary responsibility, prohibited transactions, plan terminations, and employer withdrawal liability issues.

Stroud received his B.A. in History from the University of New Orleans and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Tulane Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He served as a clerk to The Honorable Morey L. Sear of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
