Alligator bites 11-year-old girl at Lake End

An 11-year-old girl was treated for minor injuries after an alligator bit her Saturday at Lake End Park in Morgan City, Morgan City Police Capt. Betty Augman said.
Police responded to a report Saturday afternoon of a girl being bit by an alligator in the swimming area at Lake End Park, Augman said. The alligator bit the girl on her arm, but she was able to get away without further injury, Augman said.
The alligator was maybe about 5 feet long, Augman said.
The girl was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center to be treated for minor scrapes and puncture wounds, Augman said.
Authorities captured the alligator and killed it, which is typical procedure when an alligator bites someone, Augman said.
