Banner will print 2 days a week; digital only 3 days

The St. Mary and Franklin Banner-Tribune will change its publishing schedule effective July 1, according to publisher Allan Von Werder.
“Beginning July 1, we will alter our printed delivery schedule to Sunday and Wednesday. Digital only editions will be published Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays. Our first printed edition in July will be Sunday, July 3. There will be no Friday, July 1 edition,” he said.
“We are happy that we will still be able to bring five editions a week to the Franklin market,” Von Werder said. “However, the shrinking of the retail market over the years means our printed editions will only be twice a week going forward. Digital access is included with all print subscriptions so if you haven’t called our office to sign up for digital access, please do so as soon as possible,” he said.
“Fast-breaking news, obituaries and other timely events will continue to be covered and published much the same as before. Obituaries that appear digitally will also repeat in one of the printed editions so family members will have the clipping available,” he said.
“We plan to beef up the page count of our printed editions and that’s where you’ll find in-depth reporting on governmental meetings, community news and features. Our digital edition will carry breaking news, recaps and highlights of community events and, of course, AP state and national news,” Von Werder said.
“Please give the new format a chance to win you over. The digital edition is a flip-style, much like reading a printed newspaper,” he said. “The added bonus is once you’re on line, you can search back through digital archives for items you missed or want to save. The digital paper never gets wet either,” he concluded.
To activate your digital access, call the Banner-Tribune office at 828-3706 Monday thru Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
