An announcement from Jessie Boudreaux Sr. follows:
I, Jessie Boudreaux, am vying for the amazing opportunity to serve the Town of Berwick as mayor.
My beautiful wife, Norma, and I have lived in Berwick for 31 years, raised our wonderful family of three children here, and are also now blessed with eight wonderful grandkids, who we love tremendously. My family and I are proud and grateful to call this community “our home.”
My son graduated from Berwick High School, while my daughter went to Holy Cross, graduating from Central Catholic High School. My granddaughter also attended Holy Cross until fifth grade, when she decided to attend Berwick Junior High School. She is now a freshman at Berwick High.
Since my wife worked at Holy Cross for many years and my daughter is following in her footsteps by teaching, we hold all connected to any school system with high regards and great respect. Saying we have the best schools in the state is an understatement and does not begin to describe what we really have, which is caring, hard-working individuals who wish for our children to succeed. Our schools have accomplished so much: talented athletes, the superb band, and the wonderful teachers, coaches, and all else who work in the school system, which we can be proud of.
I have been employed for the last 41 years in St. Mary Parish, as well as Terrebonne Parish, in the oil patch. For the last 38 years, I have been in a leadership role as a part of management. I have overseen projects from $9 million to $12 million, employing 290 to 325 people on a daily basis. I was directly responsible for the people and their well-being, as well as starting the operation, training employees, payroll, and equipment, but mainly getting the job done.
As mayor of Berwick, should you choose me, I will work with the local AARP and school systems, as well as the state, parish, law enforcement agencies, and business leaders from across the parish and state. I am excited and look forward to listening; first of all to the residents, churches, and business owners, but most of all to the great people we have on our City Council.
I believe in Berwick’s potential, and I am willing to work diligently every day to see our city prosper. I also believe that our town is unique in so many ways and should offer residents a safe, clean, friendly place to live and raise their family. I believe in the future of Berwick, as long as we focus on the continued growth, with new business opportunities, endeavors for residents, and innovative ways to make Berwick more attractive.
I personally do not feel or believe this town should be in the position of financial responsibility for real-estate ventures. I would pursue developers statewide for more subdivision investments in our community, especially homes in a $160,000 to $200,000 range.
To summarize everything:
I have heard, and have listened attentively, to your concerns and what you think is a need. If you choose to elect me as your next mayor, it would be a great honor. When something needs to be addressed, such as improvements to our drainage system, all over, but especially in Country Club, Golden Farms, and the old town of Berwick, I will insure the need will be fulfilled. Taking care of your and my family is my number one concern.
Simply put, I would move Berwick forward, spending your hard-earned taxpayer dollars effectively, efficiently, and, most of all, wisely.
Lastly, I am willing to serve the great citizens of Berwick. Truly, I would love the great opportunity to move Berwick forward once again; it would be an immense honor to do so. I humbly ask for your support and, most of all, your vote.
