Candidate announcement: Howard J. Castay Jr.

This campaign announcement was submitted by Howard J. Castay Jr., a candidate for the Louisiana House of Representatives from District 51. The primary election is Oct. 24.
I want to represent District 51, as your next Louisiana State Representative. I am the only Morgan City candidate in the race, and the only candidate who owns two businesses in St. Mary Paris h –– KBZE 105.9FM and KFRA 1390AM.
I am 52 years old. I hold a B.A. in communications from Loyola University.
District 51 includes most of most of Morgan City, Amelia, and Bayou L’Ourse.
I want to put Louisiana first.
Small businesses here in the district and across this state, are struggling with sales and with making payrolls.
For me, selling radio within the past three years has become difficult, all thanks to the economic conditions created by Gov. Bobby Jindal, and his lack of focus on Louisiana.
I’m prepared to stand up to anyone who puts Washington lobbyists and Special Interest Groups first, before hardworking Louisiana residents.
I’m prepared to fight to award state contracts to Louisiana companies, that pay Louisiana taxes and hire Louisiana residents.
We need equal pay for equal work; to fund teacher pay raises, and all state employee and retiree cost of living raises.
––We need to lobby harder to eliminate Common Core.
––We need the I-49 Corridor to be approved, with target dates sets for each project
––We need tighter restrictions on seafood.
I have made a living reporting on government for the past 23 years.
I am pro-life, pro-second amendment, and right to work.
I am Catholic. I am also married to the former Darlene Loupe Arceneaux. We have two sons, and five grandchildren.
My number is 59 on the ballot.
