Cellphone chat leads to arrest on bench warrant

A 28-year-old Patterson woman was arrested Monday after deputies observed her using a cellphone in a school zone, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
Hebert reported responding to 37 complaints and reported the following arrests:
—Tiffany R. Guidry, 28, of the 1000 block of Red Cypress Road in Patterson, was arrested at 7:51 a.m. Monday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of speeding. A deputy monitoring traffic in a school zone in Bayou Vista, observed the driver of a vehicle using a cell phone.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Guidry. During the course of the traffic stop, the deputy located an active warrant for her arrest. Guidry was transported to the parish jail for booking. She was released after paying a $324.50 fine.
—Lendel Riles, 26, of the 1500 block of Cherry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:02 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding.
A deputy investigating a vehicle incident on Belleview Street in Bayou Vista made contact with the driver, Riles, and learned that he had an active warrant for his arrest. The deputy transported Riles to the parish jail for booking. He was jailed and bail was set at $5,000.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Benjamin J. Blackman, 25, of Roderick Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:46 p.m. Friday on the charges of driving with a suspended driver’s license and no tail lamps.
An officer was patrolling the area of Railroad Avenue near First Street when a vehicle was observed with improper lighting. The officer conducted a traffic stop, and the driver, identified as Blackman, had a suspended driver’s license. Blackman was jailed.
—Lee P. Pierce, 32, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:09 p.m. Friday on 16th Judicial District Court warrants for failure to appear on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear on the charge of unlawful use of a driver’s license, failure to appear on the charge of unauthorized entry, failure to appear on the charge of possession of synthetic marijuana and failure to appear on the charge of resisting an officer.
An officer conducted a traffic stop due to a traffic infraction on Brashear Avenue near Seventh Street. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Pierce, who had outstanding warrants. Pierce was jailed.
—Jayme R. Wininger, 19, of Palm Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:06 p.m. Friday on the charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.
—Jaboby Phillips, 19, of Poplar Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:06 p.m. Friday on the charge of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
Officers responded to an address on Ditch Avenue in regard to people being inside the home without the owner’s permission. The call was made due to the owner being out of town, but the owner had received information that several people were inside the home, Blair said.
Officers arrived on scene and located Phillips and Wininger in the company of a juvenile. The officer spoke with them about the incident and learned that Phillips, Wininger and the juvenile did go into the residence, Blair said. Phillips and Wininger were jailed.
—Paul M. Daigle, 37, of Cantrell Drive in Berwick, was arrested at 2:39 a.m. Saturday on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and simple battery and on a city court warrant with the 6th Ward City Court for failure to appear on the charge of shoplifting.
—Ricky D. Allemond, 55, of Pierre Part, was arrested at 2:39 a.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Officers responded to an address on La. 182 in Morgan City in regard to a disturbance. The officer made contact with Allemond who appeared to be the victim of a battery. Allemond told the officer that he and Daigle had gotten into an argument when Daigle struck Allemond, Blair said.
Officers spoke with Daigle, who was located in the area. Both Allemond and Daigle had allegedly been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated, Blair said. Police found evidence that Daigle and Allemond were heard arguing by witnesses. Both Daigle and Allemond were jailed.
—Michelle L. Eunice, 39, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. Saturday on the charge of engaging in a fistic encounter.
An officer responded to an address on Youngs Road in regard to a disturbance involving an altercation. Officers located Eunice and another person. Eunice and witnesses allegedly made statements which indicated that Eunice and the other person had been involved in a fight, Blair said.
Police learned that the other person sustained injuries as a result of the altercation and had to seek medical treatment, Blair said. Eunice was jailed.
—Kathleen A. Lodrigue, 31, of Andras Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 7:13 p.m. Saturday on city court warrants for failure to appear on the charge of no license plate light, failure to appear on the charge of expired driver’s license and failure to appear on the charge of no proof of vehicle insurance.
Lodrigue was turned over to the Morgan City Police Department by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office in regard to warrants for her arrest held by Morgan City Police. Lodrigue was jailed.
—Valentin Serna-Espinoza, 25, of Front Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:23 p.m. Saturday on the charges of no driver’s license and obstructing public passages.
An officer patrolling the area of Brashear Avenue near Seventh Street observed a stopped vehicle facing westbound in the eastbound lane blocking the lane of travel, Blair said. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, identified as Serna-Espinoza, did not have a valid driver’s license. He was jailed.
—Orlando G. Flores, 35, of Duke Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:40 p.m. Saturday on the charges of driving with a suspended driver’s license, careless operation of a motor vehicle and possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.
An officer responded to an address on Railroad Avenue in regard to a traffic crash. The officer located one of the vehicles involved which appeared to have struck a parked vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Flores, had a suspended driver’s license.
The officer found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. Flores was jailed.
—Junior Morales, 20, of Spruce Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:20 a.m. Monday on the charge of appearing in public intoxicated.
An officer responded to a business on La. 182 in regard to an underage person attempting to purchase alcohol. The officer arrived and made contact with Morales. Morales allegedly admitted to attempting to purchase alcohol, Blair said. Morales had allegedly been drinking and appeared intoxicated. Morales was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—John Medaris, 47, of La. 182 in Berwick, was arrested at 8:35 p.m. Monday on the warrant charge of simple battery. Medaris was released on $500 bond.
—Barbara Parks, 43, of Trevino Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Monday on the warrant charge of domestic abuse battery on a juvenile. Parks was released on $5,000 bond.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
