A 32-year-old Morgan City man was sentenced Friday to 15 years hard labor on each of three counts of attempted manslaughter to be served consecutively in connection with a June 2012 shooting in Siracusaville, Assistant District Attorney Anthony Saleme said Tuesday.
Terrence Hollins, 32, of Morgan City, was sentenced Friday for his role in a June 28, 2012, shooting. Hollins had already pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted manslaughter, according to a plea agreement filed Sept. 9, 2013, in the St. Mary Parish Clerk of Court’s Office. Hollins was originally charged with three counts of attempted first degree murder, according to court records.
According to the affidavit for Hollins, on June 28, 2012, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a call concerning a shooting that occurred in the Siracusaville area.
One of the victims in the incident told detectives that he was accompanied by two other people in his gold Ford Explorer while driving toward Morgan City on La. 182, the affidavit stated. A gold Chevy Impala pulled alongside the Ford Explorer while traveling in the opposite lane of travel, the affidavit said.
The victim said he saw Hollins shoot the vehicle and shoot several rounds from a rifle at the Ford Explorer, according to the affidavit. Detectives later made contact with Bryan Kemp, who confessed to detectives that he had been driving the Chevy Impala, the affidavit stated.
Saleme said he could not comment on the record as to why the charges for Hollins were pleaded down to attempted manslaughter.
