Dads lend a hand

St. Mary Community Action Agency Head Start parents, including several dads came to their child’s center Wednesday to participate in the “Healing Hands” project. In support of Breast Cancer Awareness and Head Start Awareness Month, some of the Head Start fathers and father figures helped create “Healing Hands” banners in support of breast cancer patients and survivors. “Seeing the children’s eyes light up as their fathers came in the door made our day,” said Head Start Administrator/CEO Almetra J. Franklin. “Obviously, the daddies play a major role and a critical part of their child’s upbringing. The fatherhood program is doing what it was designed to do: Connecting with children.”
