Dionysus, Hannibal krewes plan balls Saturday

There are two Mardi Gras balls slated for Saturday in the Tri-City area. Six parades will be held from Feb. 28 through Fat Tuesday, March 4.
On Saturday, the Krewe of Dionysus will celebrate 35 years. Also holding a ball Saturday is the Krewe of Hannibal.
Officials from each krewe remind ball patrons that events begin promptly as scheduled and all viewers should be seated prior to the published start times.
Krewe of Dionysus
The Krewe of Dionysus will present its 35th coronation Saturday at the Berwick Civic Complex. An 8 p.m. start is planned for the invitation-only event. Balcony viewing is available free to the public.
Bidding adieu will be King and Queen Dionysus XXXIV Mark Seibert and Destini Barrilleaux.
This year’s alternating Dionysus parade will be held at 2 p.m. March 1 in Berwick.
The procession will line up on Gilmore Drive and turn left on John Street, right on Robichaux Street, right on Mount Street, left on Gilmore, right on La. 182, right on Tournament Boulevard, right on Fairview then right on Pattie Drive where it will disband at Berwick Junior High School.
Anyone wishing to place a unit in the Dionysus parade should contact Roddy Richard, 985-498-0118 or Dale Tompkins, 985-518-3274. All units must be registered.
Dionysus will hold an After Parade Dance. Tickets are $10 and available from any board member. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Krewe of Hannibal
Also Saturday, the Krewe of Hannibal will host its 34th ball at 8 p.m. at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium. Floor seating is invitation only. Balcony viewing is free.
Saying farewell will be King and Queen Hannibal XXXIII Patrick M. LaSalle and Terez J. Boston.
Krewe members will parade with Dionysus.
Krewe of Hephaestus
The Krewe of Hephaestus, the oldest local krewe, will hold the last coronation court in the Tri-City area at 8 p.m. March 1 at the auditorium. This invitation-only event has free balcony viewing for the public.
Making an appearance will be King and Queen Hephaestus LIII Kenneth Cefalu and Abigail Conrad.
Hephaestus will parade Fat Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Morgan City.
The parade will organize at the corner of Sixth and Sycamore streets in Morgan City, proceed down Sixth Street to Marguerite Street, Ninth Street, Clothilde Street, and Victor II Boulevard, ending at the auditorium.
Siracusa/Greenwood
The Siracusa/Greenwood Mardi Gras Parade will also be held Fat Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Siracusa Subdivision near Morgan City.
Participants will line up on Siracusa Road at 1 p.m. and proceed to James Street and Grace Street before ending at the Siracusaville Recreation Center.
