Early voting ends Saturday

As the parish office heads into a two-day holiday, Registrar of Voters Jolene Holcombe said in a news release that 2,266 ballots have been cast ahead of the Dec. 6 election.
Saturday is the final day to cast absentee ballots for the election.
On Wednesday, 492 voters cast their ballots with 230 people voting in Franklin and 262 people voting in Morgan City.
Some 1,153 Democrats voted; 834 Republicans voted; and 279 no party voters cast ballots through Wednesday. A total of 1,622 white voters have cast ballots; 611 black voters have cast ballots; and 33 voters of other races have cast ballots. By sex, voters were 1,060 men and 1,206 women.
Voters can cast ballots early at either the Registrar’s Office on the third floor of the Parish Courthouse in Franklin or at the Registrar’s branch office in Morgan City located at 301 Third St.
People can vote from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The registrar’s office will be closed today and Friday.
Issues on the ballot includes the U.S. Senator runoff; 16th Judicial District Judge, Division G runoff; Justice of Peace runoffs in Wards 5, 7 and 10; Town of Baldwin Police Chief runoff; and the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement District one-half percent sales tax proposition.
