Early voting tops 1,200

Early voting totals in St. Mary Parish exceeded 1,200 ballots cast through the second day of voting, Registrar of Voters Jolene Holcombe said in a news release.
A total of 1,272 people in St. Mary Parish cast votes by the end of early voting Monday, Holcombe said. Early voting began Saturday.
On Monday, 522 voters cast their ballots with 243 people voting in Franklin and 279 people voting in Morgan City.
Early voting continues through Nov. 29. Voters can cast ballots early at either the Registrar’s Office on the third floor of the Parish Courthouse in Franklin or at the Registrar’s branch office in Morgan City located at 301 Third St.
People can early vote from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The Registrar’s office will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving.
Issues on the ballot includes the U.S. Senator runoff; 16th Judicial District Judge, Division G runoff; Justice of Peace runoffs in Wards 5, 7 and 10; Town of Baldwin Police Chief runoff; and the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement District one-half percent sales tax proposition.
