Early voting totals 770 through first day

A total of 770 voters have cast their ballots early for the Dec. 6 election in St. Mary Parish as early voting began Saturday, Registrar of Voters Jolene Holcombe said in an email.
On Saturday, 353 voters cast ballots in Franklin while 287 people voted in Morgan City. One hundred thirty voters mailed in ballots prior to Saturday, Holcombe said.
Early voting continues through Nov. 29. Voters can cast ballots early at either the Registrar’s Office on the third floor of the Parish Courthouse in Franklin or at the Registrar’s branch office in Morgan City located at 301 Third St.
People can early vote from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The Registrar’s office will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving.
Issues on the ballot includes the U.S. Senator runoff; 16th Judicial District Judge, Division G runoff; Justice of Peace runoffs in Wards 5, 7 and 10; Town of Baldwin Police Chief runoff; and the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement District one-half percent sales tax proposition.
