First Thursday event kicked off last week

The City of Franklin’s inaugural First Thursday event last week was a resounding success, city officials say. Mayor Raymond Harris Jr. greeted visitors on a bus charted by the city loaded with some 20 east St. Mary visitors. The trip to downtown Franklin was organized by the St. Mary Chamber of Commerce. Part of the city Main Street Program, merchants stayed open late and offered “deals and steals” for the day. The next First Thursday will be Aug. 6.
