Honors Monday for vets

A Veterans Day celebration will be held in Morgan City’s Lawrence Park by the city and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4222.
The event begins at 11 a.m. Monday at the Everett Street park and will be followed by lunch, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the VFW hall, 1504 Sandra St. in Morgan City.
During the 30-minute ceremony, the U.S. Coast Guard will present the flags, the East St. Mary Funeral Squad will play taps and issue a 21-gun salute and Marc Distefano will speak on the Fallen Warriors memorial as well as Veterans Day.
The event is free and open to the public.
Other Veterans Day ceremonies in the area include:
—Morgan City Junior High School’s Veterans Day Ceremony and reception, 1 p.m. Monday in the boys’ gym. All veterans invited. For info call 985-384-5922.
—Berwick Junior High at 9 a.m. Monday. This ceremony also includes students from Bayou Vista and Berwick elementaries. All veterans and their families welcomed.
Patterson Garden Club held their Blue Star Marker/Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. today in the Patterson City Hall parking lot.
