Hydrant testing set in Franklin

Franklin is in the process of testing all the fire hydrants in preparation for the fire insurance rating.
Over the next 60 days, crews will be flow testing and lubricating the entire hydrant system. During this process, some residents may notice a slight discoloration in their water. This is a natural occurrence and does not affect the water quality.
The color can be corrected by opening a kitchen or bathroom faucet and letting it run a few minutes until it turns clear. If residents have a persistent water problem after testing in their area, they can contact the City of Franklin Utilities Department at 828-6313 for assistance.
Drivers may have to wait a few moments while the crews test the hydrants. They should not drive through the water spray and remain patient.
