Franklin council meets Tuesday
Franklin City Council members meet Tuesday in regular session for January.
Guests include Reid Miller, Miller Engineers & Associates, regarding the Center Theater.
Bernard Daniels, utilities director, is slated to present an update on the Mary Lee Street sewer system.
There are resolutions setting the time and date of council meetings; lifting the alcohol open container law for the Tail-Gator Food Fest and Battle of the Paddles on Jan. 31, no glass containers allowed; authorizing the mayor to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the parish for a repeater, amplifier and antennae on the courthouse; and an agreement with the St. Mary Parish Communications District.
The council will also be asked to proclaim Feb. 17 the Mardi Gras holiday, and lift the open alcohol container law from one hour before to one hour after the parade, no glass containers allowed.
The council meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Iberia Street.
