Killer’s parole hearing reset

The parole hearing for a man convicted of armed bank robbery in which a 46-year-old woman was killed has been rescheduled from today to May 8, according to 16th Judicial District Assistant District Attorney Chester Cedars.
Jerry Paul Francis has been in jail the past 38 years after being convicted in Franklin of armed robbery. The parole board rescheduled Thursday’s hearing to ensure proper and sufficient notification of the hearing is given to the victim’s family, Cedars said.
“I believe he is in Angola right now and will be there until May 8 and hopefully remain there after May 8,” Cedars said as he promised to fight the convicted man’s release.
Francis, who was 17 at the time of the crime, robbed a Parks bank in 1976 along with Preston George Demouchet Jr., 24 at the time. Both were from New Iberia.
