Let there be Christmas lights!

The Christmas parade and lamp-lighting ceremony are Saturday in Franklin.
The line-up and route for the parade have changed. Line-up will begin at 5 p.m. on Main Street between Jackson and Adams streets in front of Chez Hope.
The parade begins at 6 p.m. and will roll along Main Street and turn left onto Willow Street. The lamp-lighting ceremony will begin at the Courthouse Square at the end of the parade. St. Mary Council on Aging will serve as this year’s Lamplighter.
After the ceremony festivities along Teche Drive behind Center Theater begin. The snow playground will return for children to experience real snow in south Louisiana.
While they await their turn in the snow, children can make ornaments and get a temporary tattoo for free. Additionally, Photo Express will be available for families to take pictures with Santa for a fee.
There will be vendors selling food and crafts, and Old Soul will perform from 7:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. The fun ends at 9:30 p.m.
“I hope that everyone will come out and support the St. Mary Council on Aging as this year’s Lamplighter,” said Mayor Raymond Harris. “Saturday night will be a fun way for Franklin to begin the Christmas season. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone enjoy all we have planned.”
