Marty Scelfo, 62, succumbs

Funeral services for Martin Salvador “Marty” Scelfo Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin. He will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will conduct the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Ibert’s Mortuary on Monday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., and again Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until time of service.
A native of Grand Isle and a longtime resident of Franklin, Marty passed away at the age of 62 on Monday, March 16, 2015, at his home.
Marty was the owner and operator of Scelfo’s Sporting and Marine. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting of all kinds, especially hog hunting, diving and spear-fishing, as well as fishing in general. He also coached Little League and American Legion Baseball. One of his favorite pastimes was shooting the breeze with his customers. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Cindy LeBlanc Scelfo; their two sons, Chad Jude Scelfo and Blasé Arthur Salvador Scelfo; four siblings, Tony Scelfo and his wife, Lori; Debra Scelfo, Tammy Smetak and her husband, Joe; and Neil Scelfo; and seven nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Salvador Scelfo Sr. and Marie Hebert Scelfo; and a close cousin, Michael Scelfo.
Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Bourque, Neil Scelfo, Aubrey “Booga” Curry, Leo Crappell, Luke Pillaro and J. R. Dauzat. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Talley, Ricky Blood, Eric Gaudet, Gary Robicheaux, Pete Boudreaux, Kit Lutgring and Dale Robicheaux.
