Morgan City sailor prepares for promotion

Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Kendall Brown was frocked recently at an All Hands Call at the Chapel of Hope by Boatswain’s Mate Chief Americo Medina.
Brown enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Oct. 28, 2009, and is from Morgan City. His previous duty station was Coastal Riverine Squadron 2 in Portsmouth, Virginia.
His duties include: serving as the installation primary coxswain and qualifier. In addition he serves as the Oil Spill Response Boat manager overseeing the repair and maintenance for boats attached to Port operations. He tracks all Port Operations Ships Movements, Water, fuel and oil transfers. He also is a critical member of the Facility Response Team trained for emergency response to contain and clean up hazardous waste.
