Mr. and Miss CAA to be chosen

St. Mary Community Action Agency/Head Start Program and CEO Almetra J. Franklin has announced the four contestants for Mr. and Miss CAA.
The winners and runners-up will be announced during the agency’s 49th Annual Membership Meeting, to be held this evening at The Pavilion at Cypress Bayou Casino in Charenton.
Two of the contestants are Head Start parents, while the other two are staff members. All four contestants exemplify the agency’s desire to enhance our families and communities in one accord, Franklin said.
The first Miss CAA Contestant is Remona Fay Fusilier. Fusilier and her husband, Anthony, reside in Maurice and are the proud parents of three children: Anthony Jr., Aaron and Alexia. They are also the grandparents of two grandchildren, Xavier and Tai.
Fusilier is a first year Assistant Nutrition Technician at Precious Moments Head Start Center in Abbeville. She enjoys sewing, gardening, and arts and crafts. Her dream is to travel and live life to the fullest. She is especially grateful for her family and friends.
Ka’lynn Kiara Hurst is a native of Four Corners. and currently resides in Franklin. The 27-year-old is the daughter of Oliver Hurst and the late Brenda Locket Hurst. Hurst is a Head Start baby, having attended Bambi Head Start Center. She is a graduate of West St. Mary High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Grambling State University.
Hurst is employed by St. Mary CAA/Head Start. She loves children and spending time with her family, who she credits with helping her development into the God fearing driven, determined, hardworking successful woman she is.
Mr. CAA contestant Mark C. Dixon is a 1981 graduate of Franklin Senior High School and studied Business Administration at Remington College in Lafayette. He is a licensed florist and is employed at MK Dixon Funeral Home where he assists in daily operations. Dixon currently serves as vice-resident of the St. Mary CAA Policy Council and chairman of the Baldwin Beautification Committee. He is the father of three children, one of which is Mickey Mouse Head Start student Taylor Dixon. He enjoys decorating for parties, weddings, and customizing interior home décor.
Cornelius C. Stewart III is a 1984 graduate of Patterson High School and married to the former Michele Le Blanc. He is the father of four beautiful children, one son and three daughters. Stewart is one of four brothers, and is a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, Mount Pisgah Lodge #40, and the Patterson Fire Department. He is an employee at General Crane Services, and is looking to follow in the footsteps of one of his beloved daughters, Jalisa Stewart, who was Ms. CAA in 2014.
