Morgan City, La. --
Workers moved a boiler that will be used at the Louisiana Energy and Power Authority’s new power plant on Youngs Road this morning. The boiler is one of four the plant will use. The boilers arrived by jumbo rail car Dec. 9 at the Port of Morgan City, Port Executive Director Raymond “Mac” Wade said today. Each boiler weighs about 300,000 pounds, is more than 50 feet long and about 10 to 12 feet wide, Wade said. Two of the boilers were installed Thursday and, as of this morning, one more boiler was left to be transported to the site, he said. Each boiler was transported by a carriage operated with a remote control, Wade said.
