Parish council meets Wed.

Members of the St. Mary Parish Council meet in regular session Wednesday.
Items on the agenda include discussion of the disbursement of annual allocations to local fire departments.
The issue was held over from the March 25 meeting in which Franklin Mayor Raymond Harris informed the council by letter that the FPD had not received its share of three-quarter percent sales tax collections since 2009.
“Current personnel were not aware that a formal request was necessary to have the allocation disbursed to the City.” Harris wrote. He asked for disbursement of the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 funds as well as for the 2015 allocation.
The council agreed to take up the issue during this week’s meeting after research into whether other departments had not received allocations.
The council also is slated to hear from Carl McAllister, president of the St. Mary Parish Fire Association, possibly of the same issue.
Other items on the agenda include:
—Introduction of ordinances levying the annual millage rates for the 2015 fiscal year. They include 6.05 mills in the St. Mary Parish Public Library district; and 7.25 mills outside the municipalities and 3.62 mills within the municipalities for law enforcement.
—Introduction of ordinances on the issuance of sewer sales tax refunding bonds, and an intergovernmental agreement and act of exchange between the parish and City of Franklin.
—Consideration of an ordinance allowing the assessment of up to $10 on Ward 3 Franklin City Court fines and court costs for operation and maintenance as well as establishment of a building fund. A public hearing on the ordinance will be called at 5:45 p.m.
—Resolutions on a cooperative endeavor agreement with the Department of Transportation and Development on the donation of reclaimed asphalt pavement; and a proclamation declaring the week of May 10-16, as National Women’s Lung Health Week.
—A request by Councilman Lionel Metz to transfer $2,500 from the Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 & 10 three-tenths sales tax fund to Recreation District 5 for its summer program.
The regular meeting begins at 6 p.m. on the fifth floor of the courthouse in Franklin, 500 Main St.
