Parish seats filled, some go to runoff

St. Mary Parish Council elections Saturday brought in new members, existing members and runoffs.
In Dist. 1, Craig Mathews, a former parish councilman, took 44 percent of the vote and will face off with Patrice Rodriguez Picard who garnered 33 percent.
J Ina won the District 2 seat with 61 percent of the vote.
In council District 3, Dale Rogers and Rodney Olander will advance to the runoff election with 33 percent and 29 percent of the vote respectively.
Seated councilman Ken Singleton took the District 5 seat with 65 percent of the vote.
In at-large District 9, incumbent Parish President Paul Naquin is the new councilman with 57 percent of the vote.
Councilman At-Large District 10 is Steve Bierhorst, with 66 percent.
Races not mentioned were filled by unopposed candidates.
In Town of Baldwin alderman race, Donald Grimm won with 56 percent of ballots cast.
The runoff election is Nov. 21.
