Police ask public’s help in shooting

Police are investigating a possible shooting Monday that left a man with non-life threatening injuries and are asking for anyone with information about the incident to contact police, Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said in a news release.
At 3:10 p.m. Monday, Morgan City police were dispatched to Teche Regional Medical Center in regard to a person receiving treatment for gunshot wounds.
Detectives arrived and discovered a male with multiple “non-life threatening” wounds from a small-caliber weapon, Crouch said.
Detectives questioned the person regarding the incident. He told investigators that the shooting occurred in the area of Front Street near Railroad Avenue, Crouch said.
Police have not received any complaints or calls involving a shooting in the area during the time in question and are attempting to determine the exact location and time of the alleged incident due to inconsistencies in the victim’s statements as well as other evidence being sought, Crouch said.
The male victim, whose identity is being withheld, was treated and released from the hospital, Crouch said.
