Runoffs and winners in Saturday election

Lewis Pitman and Eddie Guidry finished in a virtual tie in Saturday’s primary election for a vacant judgeship in the 16th Judicial District
Both candidates drew 36 percent of the vote according to complete but unofficial returns. “Eddie” Guidry had 13,215 votes, and Pitman had 13,120 votes. They’ll meet in a Nov. 21 runoff.
Nicholas “Nick” LaRocca had 10,240 votes, or 28 percent.
State Rep. Joe Harrison will meet Terrebonne Parish Council member Beryl Adams Amedee in a Nov. 21 runoff after Saturday’s primary election results.
Amedee, like Harrison a Republican, won 3,391 votes, or 41 percent, according to complete but unofficial returns. Harrison got 3,060 votes, or 36 percent.
Democrat Howard J. Castay Jr. got 1,899 votes, or 23 percent.
In Baldwin, the seat vacated by Alderwoman Thor Frederick was won by Donald R. Grimm with 382 votes or 56 percent.
Phil Prejean, appointed to fill Frederick’s unexpired term, took 302 votes or 44 percent.
Runoffs in parish council District 1 will be between Patrice Rodgriguez Picard and Craig Mathews, and in District 3, between Dale Rogers and Rodney Olander.
J Ina was elected to District 2.
