Scholarship fund created in honor of Mayci Breaux

An announcement is set for this week on the establishment of the Mayci Breaux Scholarship Fund.
Created through the Lafayette General Foundation, the announcement will be made at Lafayette General Medical Center at 1:30 p.m. July 14 in the main lobby.
The fund began when a radiology technician in Colorado donated $100 after The Grand Theater shooting that took Mayci Breaux’s life. She was a Franklin native.
As of now, a year later, the fund has reached $20,000.
Donations came from Lafayette General Health employees, businesses and organizations. Mayci was a radiology technology student at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She had reportedly toured the medical center before her death.
Students enrolled in a radiology technology program are eligible for the annual scholarship. Applications will be available beginning July 14. Lafayette General will continue to raise funds.
