Sinatra tribute to open concert season

NASHVILLE, Tennessee — “Simply Sinatra” featuring Steve Lippia is the first show of the Community Concert Association of Morgan City’s concert season.
The show “is a dazzling remembrance of the hit songs that define the legend of ‘old blue eyes.’” A news release from Love on Stage stated, “Steve Lippia will front a live big band in this full-throttle performance of classic American repertoire.”
The concert is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door or by calling 985-385-2307. Adult season ticket price is $45 and students (K-12) is $10.
A New York Daily News review said, “Stop what you’re doing and head to the Hilton, because he’s that good.”
Lippia’s “considerable vocal skills” (Wall Street Journal) have established his widespread notoriety at corporate events and with symphony orchestras, casinos and performing arts centers across the country, the news release stated. Originally moonlighting with local bands in Florida, the undeniable likeness to Sinatra’s style steered Lippia into a new, unexpected career, the Live on Stage news release stated.
Localized fame spread to the national scene when he landed the vocalist spot with the Woody Herman Band, a position once occupied by his mother, it stated.
He has recorded an album for Warner Brothers’ Studios, and two live CDs: “Steve Lippia Live,” and Grammy-nominated “Steve Lippia in Concert.” Television appearances include “Extra” (WBTV), “Good Day New York” (Fox) and “Showbiz Today” (CNN).
The Community Concert Association of Morgan City Inc. was formed in 1947 and brings world-class entertainment to the Tri-City area of Morgan City, Berwick and Patterson — as well as the rest of St. Mary Parish and surrounding parishes.
