SLCC Franklin campus resurrected with new programs

Solomon Tention is the new administrator for the South Louisiana Technical College campuses in Franklin and St. Martinville.
Tention introduced himself to Franklin City Council members Tuesday during their regular monthly meeting.
He said the Franklin campus is “back in action. We have some amazing things planned for the future.”
Tention is a native of Savannah, Georgia and graduated from Nicholls State University; he has an executive master’s degree in educational leadership and is working on his doctoral degree in education.
There will be new degree programs available this fall, including associates degrees in business, business administration, accounting and general studies.
On June 20 there will be a career fair at the school with many employers and vendors, from 3:30-4:45 p.m.
“I want this community to be educated but I also want a system for getting back to work,” Tention said.
Tention said he welcomes ideas from the community and public officials.
