SMIG technical studies scholarships

The St Mary Industrial Group has instituted a new annual scholarship program whereby two one-year scholarships are awarded to high school graduating seniors from St. Mary Parish for technical studies at the Young Memorial Campus of South Central Louisiana Technical College. The objective of this program is to affirm the value of technical studies in high school and at Young Memorial, and to acknowledge the achievements of students participating in those classes. To be eligible for this program, in addition to general criteria, students must have successfully completed or be enrolled and in good standing in at least one class for welding, T2- Safety Systems (Oil and Gas Production), GOSAFE, or a similar industrial career development class.The student must plan on attending Young Memorial Campus of South Central Louisiana Technical College in one of the areas of industrial technical study. In 2016, SMIG awarded $1,250 scholarships to two graduating seniors from Morgan City High School.
