St. Mary Parish School Board agendas, documents now online

Beginning with Thursday’s meeting of the St. Mary Parish School Board, all agendas and supporting materials for the meeting will be online.
The board approved a $9,000 expenditure during its summer budget talks to fund the BoardDocs management system and the purchase of 12 iPads for board use.
The paperless governance program includes online access to agendas and supporting documentation as well as access to governing policies.
Superintendent Donald Aguillard said this morning via email, “BoardDocs deployment by the St. Mary Parish School Board will help greatly to streamline the process of preparing not only the previous paper agenda, but also the board packet that would go out on the Friday prior to a regular board meeting to School Board members and also the official packet given to board members at the regular agenda.”
The information can be accessed from the front page of the St. Mary Parish schools website, stmary.k12.la.us. Toward the bottom is a tab titled BoardDocs. When clicked, it takes the user to a portal allowing access to the public site. From there, users can access the agenda on the left or search school system policies at the top.
When the date at left is clicked, users can then click to view the agenda. It is there that the PDF files of the supporting documents for individual business items can be viewed.
To allow access during the meeting, those in attendance can log onto wifi using the network name BoardRoom and password saintmary.
Additionally, Aguillard said the agenda and supporting documents will be shown on Promethean boards in the Central Office Complex’s meeting room.
On the agenda for Thursday’s meeting are approval of the 2014-15 Gold Book, a document outlining the district’s payment schedules and job classifications, and authorization of $9,850 to provide modifications to Morgan City High School special services classrooms and adjacent restrooms.
Also to be discussed is increasing the annual school board contribution per independently-owned school bus for liability insurance from $2,700 to $4,000.
The meeting is slated for 5 p.m. Thursday at the Central Office Complex in Centerville and is open to the public.
