Supporting plans to improve Morey Park

Dawn Rentrop, chairman of the Patterson Lower Atchafalaya Cultural and Historical District, is shown selling tickets for the Partners of the Park event to be held Thursday, April 7, at the Wedell Williams Aviation and Cypress Sawmill Museum in Patterson. The purpose of the social event is to create public awareness of the plans to expand and renovate Morey Park in the downtown area of Main Street in Patterson. When completed, local residents and visitors will be able to enjoy Morey Park amenities along the beautiful Lower Atchafalaya River. Plans are being made for purchasing new playground equipment and a walking trail that will tie in to the existing sidewalks on Main Street. A lovely pavilion will be built overlooking the river and the park will be finished off with beautiful landscaping among the stately oaks. Shown, from left: City Councilmen John Rentrop and Larry Mendoza, Mayor Rodney Grogan, Dawn Rentrop, Parish Councilman Steve Bierhorst, and City Councilmen Travis Darnell and Sandra Turner. Councilman Joe Russo is not shown. Tickets for Partner of the Park event are limited. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Dawn Rentrop at dvrentrop@cox.net.
