Teen arrested in Walmart incident

After requesting the public’s help in locating a shoplifter Tuesday, St. Mary Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a Bayou Vista teenager.

Keith Tillman, 17, of the 100 block of Patty Lane in Bayou Vista was arrested on Tuesday at 12:27 p.m. for theft of goods and simple battery.

At about 6 p.m. Oct. 22, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of shoplifting at the Bayou Vista Walmart.

Sheriff Mark Hebert said deputies were informed that a shoplifter pushed and attempted to punch an employee before running from the store.

After releasing his photo to the public, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received several tips that included information that led to the identification, location and arrest of Tillman, Hebert said.

 Tillman was released after posting $1,500 bail.
