Top parish students named

St. Mary Parish Students of the Year Alyssa Kate Perkins, Natalie Bourgeois and Diana Tran were announced Thursday.
The Students of the Year Award Program is designed to recognize outstanding elementary, middle/junior, and high school students in fifth, eighth and 12th grades. The program is an opportunity to recognize students from each parish who have demonstrated excellent academic achievement, leadership ability and citizenship.
Perkins is a fifth grade student at Patterson Junior High. She is the daughter of Tristan and Amy Perkins.
Bourgeois, the daughter of Gerard and Ruth Bourgeois, is an eighth grade student at Berwick Junior High.
Tran is a senior at Morgan City High and is the daughter of Thanh Tran and Lien Lam.
The Students of the Year Award Program is sponsored by the Louisiana State Superintendent through the state Department of Education and the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Parish winners will participate in the regional competition Feb. 25 in St. Mary Parish.

—Fifth grade: Jerson Flores, Aucoin Elementary; Ryanne Hill, Bayou Vista Elementary; Marikay Duval, Berwick Elementary; Nathan Mount, Centerville School; Katie Trivitt, Foster Elementary; Emory Collins, LaGrange Elementary; Makalen Williams, Maitland Elementary; Tyler Besse, Norman Elementary; Kaitlyn Louviere, Raintree Elementary; Amanda Jamand, Shannon Elementary; and Kaitlyn Waguespack, Wyandotte Elementary.
—Eighth grade: Ray Johnson Jr., B. Edward Boudreaux Middle; Barrett Landry, Centerville School; Colby Alexander, Franklin Junior High; Ciera Guidry, Morgan City Junior High; and Morgan Toups, Patterson Junior High.
—Twelfth grade: Taylor Fegenbush, Berwick High; Christian Aria, Centerville School; Bailey Nelson, Patterson High; and Amber Madison, West St. Mary High.
