Visiting ham radio operators

The Bayouland Emergency Amateur Radio Service hosted two visiting ham radio operators from the Dallas area. From left above are Grant Peterson, N5NKK, his father, Danny Peterson, N5NKJ, and BEARS President Jackie Price. Grant passed his Technician test at the age of 12, and is now a General Class operator at 13. He is very active in the Dallas metropolitan area on 2-meter, 440 and EchoLink. His father, Danny, is also active on both VHF and UHF and will be setting up a complete HF station at their home in the next few months. Grant is also an accomplished musician and is in the seventh grade. Visiting hams are always welcome to visit the BEARS station and the club welcomes the opportunity to work with youth groups, Scouts or other groups to demonstrate the uses and modes of ham radio for both personal use and emergencies.
