Morgan City police received a call that a vehicle struck a utility pole at the corner of Sixth and General Hodges streets at 2:28 p.m. Saturday, police spokesman Capt. James Blair said. The driver of the vehicle, Asia Piggott, 19, of Morgan City, was cited for careless operation. The crash caused a power outage affecting about 10 to 15 residences on General Hodges Street, City Utilities Director Bill Cefalu said. While repairing the pole, workers kept the Sixth Street feeder on until about 7:10 p.m. Saturday, when they turned off the feeder so workers could put lines onto the pole, Cefalu said. Workers left the circuit off for about 30 minutes. The circuit includes from Sixth to Second streets to Onstead Street to Brashear Avenue, he said. By 10:30 p.m. Saturday, power was restored to General Hodges Street, Cefalu said.
