Maj. Gen. Glenn H. Curtis, adjutant general of the Louisiana National Guard, presents the Purple Heart combat decoration to Spc. Stephen E. Griffin, of Morgan City, during an official ceremony Saturday at Jackson Barracks in New Orleans. Griffin received the decoration for injuries he sustained when an improvised explosive device struck the convoy he was a member of while conducting convoy logistic operations in Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1084th Transportation Company in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Morgan City man receives Purple Heart
Four Louisiana National Guardsmen, including a Morgan City man, were presented the Purple Heart combat decoration Saturday at Jackson Barracks in New Orleans.
