Couple arrested on drug charges
A Berwick couple was arrested Wednesday after narcotics detectives found drugs and a rifle while conducting a search, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Morris Garrison, 21, of Russo Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:21 p.m. Wednesday on possession charges of marijuana with intent to distribute, cocaine, a firearm in presence of a controlled dangerous substance, and drug paraphernalia.
Garrison was also charged with possession of the following drugs without a prescription: Hydrochlorothiazide, Zoloft, Cyproheptadine, Amitriptyline, Cyclobenzaprine, and Tizanidine.
—Cassandra Lacoste, 21, of Russo Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:21 p.m. Wednesday on possession charges of marijuana with intent to distribute, cocaine, a firearm in presence of a controlled dangerous substance, and drug paraphernalia.
Lacoste was also charged with possession of the following drugs without a prescription: Hydrochlorothiazide, Zoloft, Cyproheptadine, Amitriptyline, Cyclobenzaprine, and Tizanidine.
Narcotics detectives conducted a search warrant at the residence of Garrison and Lacoste. The detectives located marijuana, cocaine, a digital scale, plastic baggies, Hydrochlorothiazide, Zoloft, Cyproheptadine, Amitriptyline, Cyclobenzaprine and Tizanidine pills.
A rifle was also located in the residence. Both subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Hebert reported responding to 45 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Corey Mire, 25, of Southwest Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday on warrants for domestic abuse battery (strangulation and in the presence of a juvenile), failure to appear on the charges of criminal neglect of family, failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle with an inadequate windshield, operating a vehicle without proof of insurance, and driving under suspension.
A deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence Wednesday in Bayou Vista. Through the investigation, the deputy found evidence that Mire pushed a female victim to the floor and placed his hands around her neck.
The deputy also learned that a small child witnessed the abuse. A warrant was obtained for his arrest. A deputy located Mire at his residence on the warrants and transported him to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Brittany Everage , 23, of Mike Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 12:12 a.m. today on charges of aggravated assault and criminal damage to property.
Deputies responded to a complaint of a disturbance that occurred outside of a residence on Venus Street in Bayou Vista. Deputies found evidence that Everage approached a female victim with a baseball bat and made threats on the victim’s life.
Everage then hit the victim’s car with the bat, causing damage to the vehicle. During the investigation into the complaint, Everage was located at her residence by Patterson Police. She was later transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Gavin D. Carnley, 28, of Mark Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:14 p.m. Wednesday on charges for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance while in the presence of persons under age 17 and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.
Officers responded to a residence on Mark Drive in regard to a report of suspected drug activity. The officers arrived and located Carnley, who reportedly resides at the residence, along with several visiting juveniles.
Reports indicate the investigation uncovered evidence of Carnley using illegal narcotics while in the presence of the juveniles.
A search of the residence was conducted. The officers located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Carnley was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
—Elaina S. Gouner , 32, of Cypress Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday on possession charges for methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling on La. 182 with illegal window tint. A traffic stop was conducted and Gouner was identified as an occupant inside the vehicle.
Gouner's behavior made the officer suspicious that she might be involved in illegal drug activity. A search of the vehicle was conducted when the officer located suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
During the investigation, reports indicate that Gouner told the officer that the suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia belonged to her.
The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for the infraction while Gouner was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Larry Lindsey, 61, of Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:42 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of improper lane usage and driving under suspension.
Lindsey was released on bail set at $1,000.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
