Man pleads to indecent behavior; aggravated incest charge reduced

A 25-year-old Bayou Vista man pleaded guilty Sept. 29 to indecent behavior with a juvenile, a lesser charge than the aggravated incest charge prosecutors were pursuing, according to St. Mary Parish Clerk of Court records.
Bryson Verdin, 25, of Bayou Vista, pleaded guilty to indecent behavior with a juvenile in 16th Judicial District Court, and Judge Vincent Borne sentenced him to 25 years imprisonment with hard labor.
However, the judge suspended all but 15 years of the sentence, court records stated. Borne also placed Verdin on supervised probation for five years.
Verdin was arrested Jan. 7, 2014, and charged with aggravated rape in connection with the case. Verdin was accused of raping an underage relative, according to an affidavit.
