Two arrested after fight with weapons

An 18-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both of Morgan City, were arrested Thursday after allegedly fighting in the street with weapons, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said.

—Decator J. Crochet, 18, of Laurel Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:25 p.m. Thursday on a charge of aggravated assault.

—Shanna M. Orgeron, 22, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:33 p.m. Thursday on a charge of aggravated assault.

Officers responded to an address on Laurel Street in regards to a report of a male and female in the roadway fighting with weapons.

Officers arrived when Crochet and Orgeron, who fit the description of the subjects involved, were located in the area.

According to reports, officers spoke with Crochet and Orgeron along with several witnesses to the incident when it was determined that they were the two involved in the disturbance.

Officers were told that during the argument, Crochet was armed with knife. Orgeron was armed with a board.

Officers were able to locate a knife and board in the area, which were suspected to be the weapons used in the incident.

Crochet and Orgeron were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and jailed .

Blair reported the following arrests:

—Amy I. Poncemata, 38, of Chirpy Lane in Amelia, at 1:21 p.m. Thursday on the charges of stop sign violation and driving under suspension.

A patrolling officer observed a vehicle disregard a stop sign at the U.S. 90 west bound down ramp at Martin Luther King Boulevard. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Poncemata.

A driver’s license check revealed that Poncemata had a suspended license.

Poncemata was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated .

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 49 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:

—Joel A. Fabre, 27, of the 400 block of Idlewild Drive in Houma, at 8:23 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, speeding, and failure to honor written promise to appear.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a reckless driver traveling on U.S. 90 in the Patterson area. The deputy made contact with the driver, Fabre, and located an active warrant for his arrest. Fabre was transported to the parish jail for booking. Fabre was released on bail set at $430.

—Cameron Aucoin, 17, of the 2000 block of Burney Lane in Patterson, at 11:09 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for theft.

A deputy investigating the theft of LED light bars from vehicles in the Centerville area gathered evidence indicating that Aucoin and Matthew Strubb stole the items.

Strubb was already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on a related charge. Strubb was released on bail set at $2,000.

Aucoin was transported to the parish jail for booking and released on bail set at $1,000 .

—Denver C. Chapman III, 23, of the 100 block of Village Lane in Morgan City, at 11:25 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender

Chapman was convicted for carnal knowledge of a juvenile in St. Mary Parish in 2015.

A detective with the Sex Offender Compliance Division found that Chapman failed to meet registration requirements and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Chapman turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. Chapman was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

—Shane Suire, 20, of the 1000 block of Susan Court in Morgan City, at 7:07 p.m. Thursday for reckless operation of a vehicle and possession of Schedule 4 (alprazolam).

A deputy responded to a report of a reckless driver on U.S. 90 in the Morgan City area and located the suspect’s vehicle on La. 182 in the parking lot of a business.

The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Suire. The deputy collected statements that Suire swerved from lane to lane on U.S. 90 forcing an 18-wheeler onto the shoulder of the roadway.

Also during the investigation, the deputy located an alprazolam pill inside the vehicle. Suire was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

—Kieron Mandubourg, 59, of the 300 block of Verdun Lane in Verdunville, at 1:14 a.m. today on the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of Schedule 1 (marijuana), possession of Schedule 2 (cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone, and possession of open alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle.

A deputy assisting a stranded motorist in a parking lot off U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista received a radio call of a reported reckless driver in the area.

The deputy spotted the suspect vehicle entering the parking lot and made contact with the driver, identified as Mandubourg.

While speaking with Mandubourg the deputy observed several signs of impairment and conducted a field sobriety test. Mandubourg was unable to complete the test.

He later registered a 0.175 gram percent blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. During the investigation, the deputy also located marijuana, cocaine, and rolling papers in the vehicle.

Mandubourg was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:

Earvin Thomas, 57, of Fourth Street in Berwick, at 2:13 p.m. Thursday on the charge of failure to appear for illegal possession of a pit bull.

Thomas remains in jail. The bail is set at $525.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
