Bayou Vista man faces domestic abuse charges
A 21-year-old Bayou Vista man was arrested after evidence revealed he punched a woman and a man, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Archie Jones, 21, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:11 a.m. Sunday on the charges of three counts domestic abuse battery (in the presence of juveniles) and criminal damage to property.
Deputies responded to a report of a domestic altercation at a residence on Saturn Road. Initial reports from complainants indicated that Jones forced a woman into a vehicle.
Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle. While conducting a traffic stop, a deputy observed Jones climb into the back seat of the vehicle. The deputy made contact with Jones and detained him pending further investigation.
Deputies found evidence that Jones pushed a woman and punched a woman and a man during an altercation that took place at the residence. Jones then struck a glass window, causing it to break.
The domestic battery occurred in the presence of juveniles. Jones was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set. The case remains under investigation.
Hebert also reported responding to 123 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Tyler Francis, 20, of Morgan City, already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, was additionally charged with simple battery at 1:22 p.m. Friday.
A correctional officer at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center observed several inmates fighting in a dorm. The inmates were separated and an investigation was conducted by the jail security team. After being treated by jail medical personnel, one of the inmates was transported to an area hospital for additional treatment.
Correctional officers collected evidence that Drizzt Morales, Francis, Damien Hale, and Raven Mayon struck another inmate in the face and head area. The victim was released from the medical facility and transferred back to the law enforcement center. Morales, Francis, Hale, and Mayon remain incarcerated with no bail set.
—Blake Leblanc, 52, of Jordin Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:44 p.m. Friday on the charges of criminal damage to property and disturbing the peace.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Jordin Lane and learned that Leblanc was yelling and attempting to fight another subject. The deputy transported Leblanc to the parish jail for booking. Leblanc was released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 17.
—Tammy Triggs, 46, of James Street in Siracusaville, was arrested at 10:31 p.m. Friday for simple battery. A deputy responded to a disturbance at a business on Grace Street in Siracusaville.
The deputy made contact with Triggs and several others at the location. During the investigation, the deputy collected evidence that Triggs struck a female victim.
The deputy also learned that Triggs went to the location with the intent to commit the battery. Triggs was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $500.
—Bonnie Bass, 37, of Lincoln Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 11:41 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace (fighting).
—Rebecca Causey, 25, of Jones Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:41 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace (fighting).
A deputy responded to a disturbance at a business on La. 182 in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with all parties involved and learned that Bass and Causey were engaged in an argument when they began fighting with each other. Both subjects were released on summonses to appear in court Oct. 17.
—Stephen Bias, 51, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:49 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of probation.
A correctional officer located an active warrant for Bias who was already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail is set.
—Timothy Truong, 21, of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 2:35 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for domestic abuse battery.
The warrant was obtained following an investigation into a report of domestic abuse. The deputy collected evidence that Truong punched a female in the head.
A deputy located Truong at his residence and transported him to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
— Lorelyn M. Gotcher , 30, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:22 a.m. Friday on the charges of hit and run, no insurance, and driving under suspension.
Officers responded to the area of Brashear and Federal avenues in regard to a hit and run vehicle crash. Officers arrived and spoke to the victim.
According to reports, the victim stated that she was proceeding east on Brashear Avenue, when the passenger side of her vehicle was struck by another vehicle. The vehicle did not stop and proceeded east on Brashear Avenue.
A description of the vehicle was given out to officers and a short time later, a vehicle fitting the description was located on Terrebonne Street. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Gotcher .
The officer observed that the damage to Gotcher’s vehicle was consistent with the damage on the victim’s vehicle. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Gotcher’s driver’s license was suspended and her vehicle did not have insurance.
Gotcher was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
—Michael P. Crouch, 30, of Roderick Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Friday on the charge of driving under suspension.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 and Myrtle Street observed a vehicle with an expired license plate. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Crouch was asked to produce a valid driver’s license.
A computer check revealed that Crouch’s driver’s license was under suspension. Crouch was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking. Crouch was jailed.
—Gustavo Veregin , 26, of Ditch Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:24 p.m. Friday on the charge of driving under suspension.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 and Ditch Avenue observed a vehicle without any headlights on. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, identified as Veregin , was asked to produce a valid driver’s license.
A computer check revealed that Veregin’s driver’s license was suspended. Veregin was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Joseph Estay, 46, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:40 a.m. Saturday on the charge of false imprisonment.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Aucoin Street in regard to someone being prevented from leaving the home.
Officers arrived and received information from witnesses that the victim had been contacting them via cellphone and stating her boyfriend, Estay , will not let her leave.
Officers were able to make entry into the home and located the victim and Estay in one of the bedrooms. Estay was detained by officers.
According to reports, the victim indicated that Estay would not let her leave the residence and feared that he would harm her.
Estay was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Micah Soileau , 18, of Joey Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for probation violation.
Officers located Soileau in the area of La. 182 and Florence Street. A warrants check was done on Soileau and it was determined that he held an active warrant for the Sixth Ward City Court.
Soileau was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Mary Mayfield, 60, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:41 p.m. Sunday on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers were dispatched to the area of La. 182 and Aycock Street in regard to a vehicle involved in illegal drug activity.
A description of the vehicle was given and officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex on La. 182. Officers observed an individual exiting the vehicle and sit in front of one of the apartments.
The individual was identified as Mayfield. While talking to Mayfield, an officer observed suspected marijuana next to where she was sitting.
Mayfield consented to a search of her person and the officer located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Mayfield was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Clarence Junifer , 56, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:26 a.m. today on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers were dispatched to a local convenience store on La. 182 in regard to an individual possibly involved in illegal drug activity.
A description of the individual was given and officers located an individual fitting the description in the parking lot. The individual was identified as Junifier .
Junifer gave officers consent to search his person and a small metal pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics was found.
Junifer was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Darryl Grogan, 53, of Main Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:54 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia (second offense) and possession of marijuana (second offense).
Grogan remains jailed. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Caleb Landry, 17, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:37 a.m. Sunday on the charge of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Landry remains jailed. Bail is set at $1,000.
