Bayou Vista resident faces pot, meth charges

A 35-year-old Bayou Vista man was arrested on drug charges after narcotics detectives found proof of illegal drug activity, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.

—Harvey Morgan Sr., 35, of Rose Park Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 5:54 p.m. Tuesday on charges for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of gabapentin without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of a controlled dangerous substance law in a drug free zone.

Narcotics detectives, accompanied by the Morgan City Police Narcotics Division, made contact with Morgan, detained him, and transported him to his residence on Rose Park Lane, in regard to a pending investigation into suspected illegal drug activity at the location. Detectives located marijuana, methamphetamine, a gabapentin pill, marijuana grinder, and other items of drug paraphernalia.

Detectives also collected evidence that Morgan sold illegal drugs. The residence is located near a church and park. Morgan was transported to the parish jail. No bail is set.

Hebert also reported responding to 43 complaints.

Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrest:

—Rachael L. King, 32, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:56 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear for drug court.

King was located by officers near Sixth and Belanger streets where she was arrested on an active warrant held by the 16th Judicial District Court.

King was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSall e reported the following arrest:

—Kilo N. White, 26, of First Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear for drug court. White remains jailed. Bail is set at $100,000.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
