A Morgan City apartment sustained heavy damage Sunday from a fire that started in a utility room. No one was injured in the fire, Assistant Fire Chief John Price said.
The fire department received a call at 6:35 p.m. Sunday reporting a fire at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Duke Street.
Heavy fire was showing when firefighters arrived on scene and saw an apartment unit was on fire, Price said. Firefighters put out the fire “fairly quickly,” he said. Firefighters believe the fire may have started in a utility room area, Price said.
Two surrounding apartment units had some smoke damage due to the fire, Price said.
Twenty-five personnel responded to the fire and left the scene just before 8 p.m. Sunday.
