Four train passengers arrested

A passenger train on its way to New Orleans made an unplanned stop Tuesday night in Morgan City after train officials requested the assistance of Morgan City police in regard to an alleged theft. Four people were subsequently arrested on drug and gun charges, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.

—Kristie Williams, 18, of New Orleans, was arrested at 11 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession with intent to distribute ecstasy, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number and illegal carrying of weapons while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

— Dearra Armington , 22, of Cypress, Texas, was arrested at 11 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession with intent to distribute ecstasy, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number and illegal carrying of weapons while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

— Jamarius Palmer, 25, of Houston, was arrested at 11 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession with intent to distribute ecstasy, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number and illegal carrying of weapons while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

—A 16-year-old male was arrested at 11 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession with intent to distribute ecstasy, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number and illegal carrying of weapons while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Officers responded to Railroad Avenue at Third Street in regard to a call of a passenger train stopped and in need of police assistance. Police arrived and were told by train employees that the train had stopped in Morgan City for assistance involving a theft aboard the train.

Police boarded the train to assist when they were approached by a train employee who told officers that a large amount of illegal narcotics was found in a restroom. Officers located a large amount of suspected ecstasy, marijuana and a handgun with obliterated serial numbers in the restroom.

Narcotics detectives responded and conducted an investigation. During the investigation, four suspects were identified related to the suspected contraband. They were identified as Williams, Armington , Palmer and a 16-year-old male.

During a search, Williams was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Investigators deployed a narcotics canine dog in an effort to secure the train. As a result, additional suspected marijuana was located in a bag belonging to Williams.

During the investigation, the four suspects, who were traveling from the Houston area to New Orleans, were arrested. The juvenile was housed until such time as he could be transferred to New Orleans authorities. The investigation is continuing.

Blair reported the following arrest:

—Bobby L. Anderson, 29, of Buchanan Loop Road in Texarkana, Texas, was arrested at 6:16 a.m. Tuesday on the charges of DWI and red light violation.

A patrolling officer observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection of La. 70 and Victor II Boulevard. After conducting a traffic stop, the driver, identified as Anderson, was believed to be intoxicated.

Anderson was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for further chemical testing. Anderson submitted to the Intoxilyzer 5000, yielding a blood alcohol concentration of 0.119 grams-percent. Anderson was jailed.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:

—Bobby Anderson, 29, of Buchanan Loop Road in Texarkana, Texas, was arrested at 7:52 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with aggravated assault with a vehicle, reckless operation and hit and run. Anderson was transported from the Morgan City Police Department with no bail set.

Around 2 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a hit and run on the La. 182 bridge in Berwick. Anderson was accused of intentionally running into the vehicle of someone he knew and leaving the scene. One woman was transported to a hospital to be treated for injuries.

—Sylvester Francois Jr., 19, of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of license plate light required, expired license plate, no driver’s license and possession of marijuana second offense. No bail is set.

—Tyrique Jones, 18, of Plum Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of marijuana. Jones posted $2,000 bail.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 40 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:

—Ryan Arceneaux, 45, of Teurlings Drive in Lafayette, was arrested at 1:54 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failing to appear to court on charges of theft of crab traps and use of gear without recreational gear license. Arceneaux was transported from the St. Martin Parish Jail to the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville for booking. Bail is set at $2,500.

—David Lodrigue , 64, of Ramos Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of aggravated assault. A deputy assigned to patrol the Siracusaville area responded to a disturbance at a residence on Ramos Street.

During the investigation, the deputy learned that Lodrigue had pulled a knife on two women while engaged in a verbal altercation with them. Lodrigue was jailed with no bail set.

—Adan Gutierrez, 37, of Moon Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:55 a.m. today on charges of improper lane usage, no turn signal and DWI .

A deputy patrolling the Morgan City area observed the driver of a vehicle swerve into another lane. The deputy also observed that the driver failed to initiate a turn signal when making a turn. A traffic stop was conducted and the deputy made contact with the driver, Gutierrez.

During the investigation, the deputy found Gutierrez to be impaired. A chemical test was ultimately conducted and resulted in a blood alcohol content level of 0.161 grams-percent. Gutierrez was jailed with no bail set.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:

—Ryan W. Lodrigue, 23, of Riverview Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 11:21 p.m. Tuesday on charges of DWI first offense and careless operation. No bail is set yet.
